Duke Frost - Newark 5th Ward Council Member

Licking County Republican Central Committee’s Fifth Ward Members unanimously elected Earl “Duke” Frost at the new Newark 5th Ward Council Member.   Last week, the Licking County Republican Central Committee’s Fifth Ward Members held a meeting to accept nominations and make an appointment to fill the unexpired Newark 5^thWard City Council Seat.  

As Central Committee Chair, I was impressed with Duke’s passion to help move Newark forward to attract new jobs.  His commitment to the City of Newark and the residents is refreshing in that he understands that government does not make jobs – It is the people and local businesses make jobs, expand companies, create new opportunities to attract companies to the area….  Duke stated “City Council can’t create jobs, but what we can and should do is partner with local businesses and figure out ways to attract new jobs.” Some of the key point that Duke noted included: Partnering with local businesses to help attract new jobs; Improving the city with downtown renovation and getting rid of derelict buildings; Making Newark a clean, safe community with good schools.  Duke currently works in the County Prosecutor’s office and could help bring a new perspective to the City Council.  Duke noted that “With my years at the Prosecutor’s Office, I’ve got extensive experience dealing with law enforcement.  I’ve developed a good rapport with the Newark Police Department and think that will be a real benefit when serving on city council.”   Thank you for your willingness to serve and Congratulations.  Billie Fiore, Chair – Licking County Republican Central Committee.

Licking County Republican Central Committee Members for the City of Newark and Newark 5th Ward will hold meetings on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 7:00p.m. We will be conducting two meetings on this date.  First meeting – Newark 5th Ward Republican Central Committee members for the purpose taking nominations and making an appointment to fill the vacant Newark 5th Ward City Council position.  Second meeting - For all Republican Central Committee Members for the City of Newark for the purpose of taking nominations and making an appointment to fill the vacant Newark City Treasurer position.  The Meetings will be held in the 2nd floor ballroom of the Licking County Republican Party Headquarters located at 48 N. 4th St., Newark, OH 43055.   For information contact Billie Fiore, Licking County Republican Central Committee Chairman 344-6213  or at LCGOPCentralCmt2@gmail.com

GOP Multi-county event on Saturday, January 21^st, with Senator Rob Portman as the keynote speaker.  The event will be at the Villa Milano, 1630 Schrock Road, Columbus, at 5:30pm.   The cost for the dinner for Licking County is ^$50 per person, with all proceeds over and above the cost of the event being returned to Licking County.  Checks should be made out to the Licking County Republican Executive Committee, and returned to LCGOP Attention: Rod Yost, LCGOP Executive Chairman 48 N. 4th St., Newark OH 43055.

I hope to see many of you at the Place Off The Square for this week’s Women’s Club Holiday party on Wednesday the 7th and again at the Patriot’s Club gathering at the Works on Thursday the 8th.  Both of these organizations are invaluable in their support for the Licking County Republican Party.  Even If you have never participated in any of their events, I strongly encourage you to come.  I know that the deadline has passed for reservations to the Women’s Club Party, but you could still come to the Patriot’s Club without making a reservation.  Please come.  

Don’t forget that the filing deadline for all 2012 petitions is 4:00 PM on Wednesday the 7th.

Congratulations to Jeff Hall who was elected to be the next Newark Mayor!    Cliff Mason was re-elected as Mayor in Hebron and Brad McCloud Mayor in Reynoldsburg.  We had a number of Republican Victories throughout the county in races for Mayor, Councils and Trustees.  To view all the November 2011 Election – Click on the link to the Licking County Board of Elections - Posted Election Results

     Have you heard the saying – This is the most important election!  Well, this is a defining moment and important election!  Many folks are focused on the statewide ballot issues and spotlight/debates for next year’s Presidential election.  Don’t let our Local Candidates be forgotten - Getting out our Republican Vote will be crucial to keeping Newark City Council and Newark Mayor’s office Republican.  Plus, we have many Republicans running in Pataskala, Reynoldsburg, Utica, as well as many townships.  This election will be watched both statewide and nationally to see how we do this year —- and how we are gearing up our base as we head into the 2012 elections. 

     HOW CAN YOU HELP - Sat, Oct. 29 WE NEED YOU at LCGOP Headquarters 48 N. 4^th St., Newark! Volunteer Saturday for big push to help Issues & Candidates – Kick off session 9am & 2nd session starts 12pm – We will have Scott Blake from Building Ohio there to help with the morning session. We want to make a big push on door to door.  We also need people to help make calls, label envelopes and more.  Can you stop in ? Even if only for an hour, it will make a difference.

     State Representative Bill Hayes will be on hand at noon to help and meet volunteers. Our local candidates are working everyday knocking on doors and trying to get the Republican base to the polls.  Remember you can vote early at the Board of Elections located at 20 S. 2^nd St., 1^stFloor, Newark.  Print our slate card (in the previous post on this page) and make sure you share the card with your family and friends. We need you to help us Turn out the Vote and Turn out the Victory!

     Please come to LCGOP Headquarters (48 N. 4^th St., Newark) on Sat., Oct 29 at 9am or noon to find out how you can help.  We also have yard signs for candidates and issues.
