A Message From Our Congressman Patrick Tiberi

Posted on: February 20th, 2012 by admin
Our Congressman Patrick Tiberi -

Our Congressman Patrick Tiberi -

I am delighted that ALL of Licking County is included in the newly redrawn 12th congressional district and I look forward to the opportunity to continue to serve you in the U.S. House of Representatives.

I will continue to fight to cut spending while decreasing our annual deficit and paying off our national debt. We must cut our spending, impose and pass a balanced budget amendment to constitutionally limit our spending.  We need to reduce the size and scope of government by eliminating unnecessary federal programs and job-killing regulations. I believe we need to cut the bureaucratic red tape that over-burdens U.S. businesses, stifling their ability to grow, expand and hire.

As the Chairman of the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Select Revenue Measures, I will be leading the charge to reform our tax code, making it simpler and lowering the tax burden on individuals and small businesses.

Raising four young daughters with my wife, Denice, has reinforced my belief that America’s best days are yet to come. However, I believe a lot of hard work and difficult decisions still need to be made to secure a prosperous future.

I look forward to being with you this Friday at the Lincoln Day Dinner and to working with you to elect Republicans over the course of the year. As always, if you need to contact me or my staff, do not hesitate to call us at (614) 895-0900 or email us at info@tiberiforcongress.com

1st month in the Treasurer’s office – Tim Mercer, Newark City Treasurer

1st month in the Treasurer’s office – Tim Mercer, Newark City Treasurer

Renovations of phase 1 are complete.  We invite everyone to stop by and discover the warm and professional atmosphere in the remodeled area.  I am looking forward to the tax season and how I can be of assistance to my staff and the citizens of Newark.  Barb and Cindy have worked together to create a positive management style which in turn has created a happy and motivated staff.  Our office is continually working together to make the tax office the best it can be for the citizens of Newark.  Arline and Sandy continue to handle pay-ins from the other departments with expedience and professionalism.  They both have been very helpful in my transition to the treasurer’s office.  We have weekly staff meetings where information is shared on a wide variety of topics from procedures to change or continue, problems or questions from the staff, and then how we can fix the problems. Everyone has a voice and can be heard. I really believe the credit goes to Jeff Hall.  He has given the staff the comfort and confidence to ask for help and the willingness to share ideas.  In the staff meetings I have been able to share some of my experiences working with people and solving problems or concerns from my 32 years in education.  I would like to name all of my staff because they have all been very helpful  making me feel welcome.  Linda, Brenda, Maggie, Marsha, Sharree, Candy, Bobbi, and Joyce.  Barb and myself will be going to Newark High School to speak to the Government and OWE classes concerning filling their Newark Income Tax.  I am looking forward to working with my staff, the other departments in the city, and of course the citizens of Newark.

Licking County Republican Central Committee’s Fifth Ward Members unanimously elected Earl “Duke” Frost

Posted on: January 18th, 2012 by admin

Duke Frost - Newark 5th Ward Council Member

Licking County Republican Central Committee’s Fifth Ward Members unanimously elected Earl “Duke” Frost at the new Newark 5th Ward Council Member.   Last week, the Licking County Republican Central Committee’s Fifth Ward Members held a meeting to accept nominations and make an appointment to fill the unexpired Newark 5thWard City Council Seat.

As Central Committee Chair, I was impressed with Duke’s passion to help move Newark forward to attract new jobs.  His commitment to the City of Newark and the residents is refreshing in that he understands that government does not make jobs – It is the people and local businesses make jobs, expand companies, create new opportunities to attract companies to the area….  Duke stated “City Council can’t create jobs, but what we can and should do is partner with local businesses and figure out ways to attract new jobs.” Some of the key point that Duke noted included: Partnering with local businesses to help attract new jobs; Improving the city with downtown renovation and getting rid of derelict buildings; Making Newark a clean, safe community with good schools.  Duke currently works in the County Prosecutor’s office and could help bring a new perspective to the City Council.  Duke noted that “With my years at the Prosecutor’s Office, I’ve got extensive experience dealing with law enforcement.  I’ve developed a good rapport with the Newark Police Department and think that will be a real benefit when serving on city council.”   Thank you for your willingness to serve and Congratulations.  Billie Fiore, Chair – Licking County Republican Central Committee.

I hope to see many of you at the Place Off The Square for this week’s Women’s Club Holiday party on Wednesday the 7th and again at the Patriot’s Club gathering at the Works on Thursday the 8th.  Both of these organizations are invaluable in their support for the Licking County Republican Party.  Even If you have never participated in any of their events, I strongly encourage you to come.  I know that the deadline has passed for reservations to the Women’s Club Party, but you could still come to the Patriot’s Club without making a reservation.  Please come.

Don’t forget that the filing deadline for all 2012 petitions is 4:00 PM on Wednesday the 7th.

One election just finished…but another one is now upon us.

Posted on: November 29th, 2011 by admin

I know one election just finished, but another one is now upon us.  Candidates for the March 2012 Primary are required to submit their petitions by December 6th.  Next year will be an important, but difficult election year.  As you may know, Ohio will have two primaries – March 2012 Primary will be for local candidates, Ohio House of Representative, Ohio Senate and Central Committee.  As a result of referendums filed on various legislation passed by the General Assembly, and with the Democrats unwilling to come to the table to work through elections issues and Congressional Redistricting, a June 12th Primary has been set for a ”yet – to – be – determined” 16 new Congressional Districts, as well as for the Office of President of the United States.   For years, Congressman Pat Tiberi has represented Licking County with great passion for the needs of our county.  Congressman Tiberi has always represented the Western part of the County, but that never stopped him from Representing ALL of the county when he was in DC.  With the Redistricting, Congressman Tiberi’s new district is set to encompass all of the County!  Great news for us.

As many of you heard me say at our Central Committee Meetings, Grassroots politics is best resource we as Republicans have to ensure VICTORY during the elections of next year.  I have always believed that Central Committee is the web that binds a party.  Local Republican Central Committee members who know their neighbors, townships, villages, precincts better than anyone at the county or state or national levels are able to network within their areas to educate their precincts about our Republican Candidates.  You know what your neighbors are talking about when you see them at your kids/grandkids’ events, at church, at work, out mowing the lawn, out shopping …  As well informed Central Committee members, you are the best advocate we have as a party to participate in these conversations.

In Licking County we have two House of Representative seats.  State Representative Jay Hottinger’s district encompasses a majority of Licking County in the central, north and western part of the county.  State Representative Bill Hayes’ district has changed quite a bit.  Hayes’ district still have a good portion of southern, central and eastern Licking County, all of Perry County and new areas of Coschocton County.  Hayes did pick up a few extra townships and villages in Licking County, so make sure you check to see if Jay or Bill is your candidate for next year and reach out to them to help.

As I wrap up my time as Chairman of Central Committee, I have been Blessed to have met so many amazing people through Central Committee and the local political clubs.  Let’s help grow our base so we are prepared for 2012.  Thank you.  Billie Fiore, Licking County Republican Central Committe Chairman.  LCGOPCentralCmt2@gmail.com
