MITT ROMNEY REMARKS: I WILL REPEAL OBAMACARE

Posted on: June 28th, 2012 by midnet.media

MITT ROMNEY REMARKS: I WILL REPEAL OBAMACARE - “What the Court did not do on its last day in session I will do on my first day if elected President of the United States. And that is I will act to repeal Obamacare….Obamacare was bad policy yesterday. It’s bad policy today. Obamacare was bad law yesterday. It’s bad law today.” – Mitt Romney.   Click Here To Watch Mitt Romney Discuss The Supreme Court’s Decision On President Obama’s Healthcare Law

MITT ROMNEY: “What the Court did not do on its last day in session, I will do on my first day if elected President of the United States. And that is I will act to repeal Obamacare.

“Let’s make clear that we understand what the Court did and did not do. What the Court did today was say that Obamacare does not violate the Constitution. What they did not do was say that Obamacare is good law or that it’s good policy.

“Obamacare was bad policy yesterday. It’s bad policy today. Obamacare was bad law yesterday. It’s bad law today. Let me tell you why I say that. Obamacare raises taxes on the American people by approximately $500 billion. Obamacare cuts Medicare, cuts Medicare, by approximately $500 billion. And even with those cuts, and tax increases, Obamacare adds trillions to our deficits and to our national debt and pushes those obligations on to coming generations. Obamacare also means that for up to 20 million Americans, they will lose the insurance they currently have, the insurance that they like and they want to keep. Obamacare is a job killer. Businesses across the country have been asked what the impact is of Obamacare. Three quarters of those surveyed by the Chamber of Commerce said Obamacare makes it less likely for them to hire people. And perhaps most troubling of all, Obamacare puts the federal government between you and your doctor. “For all those reasons, it’s important for us to repeal and replace Obamacare. What are some of the things that we’ll keep in place, and must be in place, in a reform, a real reform, of our healthcare system? One, we have to make sure that people who want to keep their current insurance will be able to do so. Having 20 million people, up to that number of people, lose the insurance they want, is simply unacceptable. Number two, got to make sure that those people who have pre-existing conditions know that they will be able to be insured and they will not lose their insurance. We also have to assure that we do our very best to help each state in their effort to assure that every American has access to affordable healthcare. And something that Obamacare does not do that must be done in real reform is helping lower the cost of healthcare and health insurance. It’s becoming prohibitively expensive.

“And so this is now a time for the American people to make a choice. You can choose whether you want to have a larger and larger government, more and more intrusive in your life—separating you and your doctor—whether you’re comfortable with more deficits, higher debt that we pass onto the coming generations. Whether you’re willing to have the government put in place a plan that potentially causes you to lose the insurance that you like or whether instead you want to return to a time when the American people will have their own choice in healthcare. Where consumers will be able to make their choices as to what kind of health insurance they want.

“This is the time of choice for the American people. Our mission is clear: If we want to get rid of Obamacare, we’re going to have to replace President Obama. My mission is to make sure we do exactly that. That we return to the American people the privilege they’ve always had to live their lives in the way they feel most appropriate. Where we don’t pass on to coming generations massive deficits and debt, where we don’t have a setting where jobs are lost. If we want good jobs and a bright economic future, for ourselves and for our kids, we must replace Obamacare. That is my mission. That is our work. And I’m asking the people of America to join me. If you don’t want the course that President Obama has put us on, if you want instead a course that the Founders envisioned, then join me in this effort. Help us. Help us defeat Obamacare. Help us defeat the liberal agenda that makes government too big, too intrusive, and is killing jobs across this great country.”

Licking County’s Congressman Pat Tiberi’s statement regarding the US Supreme Court’s ruling

Posted on: June 28th, 2012 by midnet.media

Licking County’s Congressman Pat Tiberi released the following statement regarding the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling on the constitutionality of the Democrats’ health reform law:

“Although the U.S. Supreme Court deemed the individual mandate constitutional as a ‘tax,’ that doesn’t mean it is good policy.  I specifically asked then-Chair of the President’s Council of Economic Advisors, Austan Goolsbee, if the individual mandate in Obamacare amounted to a tax.  He denied it.  However, the Supreme Court just determined the individual mandate is a tax.  President Obama promised over and over again he would not raise taxes on the middle class, yet the individual mandate is just one of 22 new tax increases in Obamacare amounting to a $569.2 billion tax hike.

…“I will continue to work to fully repeal this government take-over of health care and replace it with common sense measures that will lower the cost of health care while preserving patient choice.  …

Gov Kasich & Lt. Gov. Taylor on US SupCt Health Care Ruling – We’re very disappointed that this flawed law has been allowed to stand…”

Posted on: June 28th, 2012 by midnet.media

GOVERNOR JOHN KASICH & Lt. GOVERNOR MARY TAYLOR STATEMENT ON U.S. SUPREME COURT HEALTH CARE RULINGCOLUMBUS –

Today Gov. John R. Kasich and Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor released the following statement in response to the ruling by the Supreme Court of the United States on the constitutionality of the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act: “We’re very disappointed that this flawed law has been allowed to stand.  The Supreme Court has confirmed what everyone knew all along—but that the White House tried to deny: this is a massive new tax on the middle class.  Hopefully Congress will eventually repeal the law altogether and replace it with improvements that actually address the most pressing needs in health care, especially the need to reduce costs in order to improve access.  Until then, Ohio taxpayers could be saddled with dramatically higher costs.  The Administration will carefully analyze the decision to determine the appropriate next steps.  We are very concerned that a sudden, dramatic increase in Medicaid spending could threaten Ohio’s ability to pursue needed reforms in other areas, such as education.  Going forward, we remain committed to minimizing the law’s drag on the economic growth Ohio is beginning to experience, protecting the inviolate relationship between doctors and patients, and preserving as much free market competition in health care as possible.”

Getting Involved with the Republican Party – You are Very Important to Us.

Posted on: May 31st, 2012 by midnet.media

Comments from the Chair, Billie Fiore – Licking County Republican Executive Committee

http://lickingcountyrepublicanparty.org/ …How do I get involved?  Should I get involved?  Will it take up too much time?  Does it matter?  Maybe I will get involved later…  Some of these vary same questions could be questions that you once asked yourself.  Most likely, you know someone who has asked themselves these same questions.

Answers … 20+ years ago, I asked those questions. Life was busy.  Family and Career filled a lot of my time. Since that time some of my best moments, and frustrating moments and the amazing time spent with friends were as a result of taking that first step to volunteer for the Licking County Republican Party, Licking County Republican Patriots Club and Republican Candidates.   Yes, you should get involved and it will not take up a lot of time…Even a little time helping at an event, attending a meeting, volunteering for a candidate or the Party will make us a better organization.  Involvement is needed now not later.  As we move into the Summer season, so many Republican and Community activities are happening – we are looking for people to help us ensure coverage at these activities for the Republican Party and candidates.  Hope to see you soon.

Another answer:  ”baby steps” a wise woman told me when we discussed helping people get involved.  We have the Licking County Republican Women’s Club and Jeanne Bolton jeannebolton@windstream.net would love to discuss how to get involved.  The support of the Women’s club has been invaluable to the County Party.  If you have not attended one of their meeting, you are missing out.  On June 20th, Jean Turner, President of Ohio Federation of Republican Women will be their featured speaker.  Email Jeanne today to find out more.

Another group that the County Party has relied upon for over 25+ years is the Licking County Republican Patriots Club.  So many grassroots functions of  Republican candidates are conducted by the Patriots Club.  They are the foot soldiers – helping with Republican candidate’s  forums and debates, hosting meet and greet events for candidates with the residents of the county, organizing door to door efforts, Running The Republican Booth at the Strawberry Festival in Downtown Newark…  call Jeff Rath, President today 614-893-1023  jeff@jeffrath.com ). Many of our county Republican Leaders/Officers and elected officials once served on the Patriots Board and were members of the Club. If you want to join – reach out to Jeff Rath and he will send you the membership form.

We need your help to ensure that Mitt Romney becomes our next president to get our nation back on track. What can you do to help?

Romney’s “Buckeye Blitz” Saturday, June 9th, 2012 – Overall Goal: To contact over 8 Million Voters this Election Year in state of Ohio.  Blitz will be in all 88 counties.  The Romney campaign is asking for a 3 hour door to door shift on Saturday.  The campaign has estimated that in 3 hours, 60 doors can be completed.     Sign Up for Door to Door can be done by emailing or calling Kevin Servick at 614-937-2504 kwservick@gmail.com  KServick@mittromney.com    If unregistered voters are encountered….local county party have voter registration forms that will be given with the Walk-list booklets. The data we collect will help all Republican candidates from Josh Mandel for US Senate to our Congressmen Pat Tiberi, State Reps Jay Hottinger & Bill Hayes, and local Republicans candidates like Commissioner Tim Bubb, County Recorder Bryan Long, and more.  If we send walkbooks out, we must get walkbooks back. A walkbook that never comes back might as well have never been printed.

One election just finished…but another one is now upon us.

Posted on: November 29th, 2011 by midnet.media

I know one election just finished, but another one is now upon us.  Candidates for the March 2012 Primary are required to submit their petitions by December 6th.  Next year will be an important, but difficult election year.  As you may know, Ohio will have two primaries – March 2012 Primary will be for local candidates, Ohio House of Representative, Ohio Senate and Central Committee.  As a result of referendums filed on various legislation passed by the General Assembly, and with the Democrats unwilling to come to the table to work through elections issues and Congressional Redistricting, a June 12th Primary has been set for a ”yet – to – be – determined” 16 new Congressional Districts, as well as for the Office of President of the United States.   For years, Congressman Pat Tiberi has represented Licking County with great passion for the needs of our county.  Congressman Tiberi has always represented the Western part of the County, but that never stopped him from Representing ALL of the county when he was in DC.  With the Redistricting, Congressman Tiberi’s new district is set to encompass all of the County!  Great news for us.

As many of you heard me say at our Central Committee Meetings, Grassroots politics is best resource we as Republicans have to ensure VICTORY during the elections of next year.  I have always believed that Central Committee is the web that binds a party.  Local Republican Central Committee members who know their neighbors, townships, villages, precincts better than anyone at the county or state or national levels are able to network within their areas to educate their precincts about our Republican Candidates.  You know what your neighbors are talking about when you see them at your kids/grandkids’ events, at church, at work, out mowing the lawn, out shopping …  As well informed Central Committee members, you are the best advocate we have as a party to participate in these conversations.

In Licking County we have two House of Representative seats.  State Representative Jay Hottinger’s district encompasses a majority of Licking County in the central, north and western part of the county.  State Representative Bill Hayes’ district has changed quite a bit.  Hayes’ district still have a good portion of southern, central and eastern Licking County, all of Perry County and new areas of Coschocton County.  Hayes did pick up a few extra townships and villages in Licking County, so make sure you check to see if Jay or Bill is your candidate for next year and reach out to them to help.

As I wrap up my time as Chairman of Central Committee, I have been Blessed to have met so many amazing people through Central Committee and the local political clubs.  Let’s help grow our base so we are prepared for 2012.  Thank you.  Billie Fiore, Licking County Republican Central Committe Chairman.  LCGOPCentralCmt2@gmail.com
